The BeanPot Café is a mobile vegan/vegetarian kitchen.  We vend at music, environmental, and art festivals an concerts, and serve up a yummy alternative to the typical fried "festival food".  We serve only delicious, healthy food made with the freshest ingredients available. The BeanPot Café supports local, independent businesses and socially and ecologically responsible business practices whenever possible.

We purchase a good deal of our inventory from local businesses in and around Plant City, FL (where the BeanPot is based out of).  Our Frozen Coconut Deserts are from CocoRam, a small minority-owned business in Seffner, FL, just a few miles from Plant City.  The whole-wheat tortillas we use for our wraps are made in Plant City by El Mirasol, Inc. Our soy “chik’n”, soy taco “meat”, and several of our spices are purchased at Nature’s Harvest in Tampa , a health food store owned by the Taylor family.  All of our produce is purchased at the local farmer’s markets, and most of it is grown locally.  The business is owned by Angela Tapley, a lifelong resident of Plant City , FL.  It is operated by her and her husband Travis Scott.  Travis takes care of a lot of the "behind the scenes" engineering.  The BeanPot was purchased as a steel frame with an aluminum skin, and Travis built the rest (installed the appliances, built the countertops, insulated the walls, put in the floor and walls, etc)!

The BeanPot Café believes in ecologically sound business practices.  Our mobile kitchen is pulled to events by a 1994 Ford E350 7.3 diesel van that is powered by straight vegetable oil.  Yes, you can use vegetable oil! (For more information on converting your vehicle to vegetable grease or biodiesel, see our resources and links  page.  Or you could email us and Travis will be happy to answer any questions he can )   The battery that powers our water pump we use in our trailer is charged with a solar charger.  The disposable paper/styrofoam goods we serve our food on are produced with no CFCs.  However, we are looking into switching from styrofoam to products made from corn and/or wheat, which are 100% biodegradable!*

A vegetarian diet, in itself, has a tremendous positive ecological impact.  We are committed to spreading the word that a vegetarian diet can be both beneficial to your health, and also very tasty!  For more information on the ecological and health benefits of a vegetarian/vegan diet, see our resources and links page.  The first link to Road's End Organics, for example, has some very amazing stats listed about just that.

The BeanPot Café only serves healthy, delicious food made from the freshest available ingredients.  Our tortillas and tortilla chips contain no trans-fats.  We use whole-wheat tortillas and brown rice instead of white.  We cook "ital", meaning we use no added salt in our dishes.  We only use Bragg’s liquid aminos, a sauce similar to soy sauce, but with no salt, and, unlike soy sauce, it is not fermented.  It contains only non-gmo soybeans and filtered water, and all 16 essential amino acids.  For more information on Bragg’s Health Products, see our resources and links page.    Our soy “chik’n” and soy taco “meat” are made from non-gmo soybeans as well.  All our dishes are vegan unless you choose to add mayo or ranch dressing.    Eventually we would like to use only organic produce, which has a very positive impact on the soil and  water and is also much healthier for our bodies.
